"When I'm feeling blue, all I have to do is take a look at you, then I'm not so blue" - A Groovy Kind Of Love by Phil Collins.
... I could do that, or I could just play with makeup like the holiday kits by Benefit Cosmetics: Groovy Kind-A Love* and Let's Make Lovely*. This Holiday, Benefit has come out with many different makeup and skincare kits that will meet every makeup enthusiast's need.
Benefit calls Groovy kind-a love! (CA $43.00 / US $36.00 / GB £29.50) a "beauty love-in makeup kit". It comes with a few minis of their star products, as well as 4 full size eyeshadows:
The minis are all cult favourites. Porefessional is great for minimizing the appearances of pores, makes your skin more HD photogenic. You can use Benetint as a cheek or lip stain (my favourite way) to get that apres snow flush that would last. To make you look even more glowy, you can use the combination of Dandelion and Gimmer Fever. The brush included is actually great for picking up on colour or the other (or both).
You just can't go wrong with They're Real Mascara, it lengthens and volumized. The only thing though is if you have more watery eyes/oily skin, make sure you set your undereye concealer with powder to avoid smudging. Also, the eyeshadows they included are pretty versatile for day and night neutral looks. They're soft to touch and easy to blend. They are not super pigmented but you can build it up to the intensity you prefer.
Of course, Benefit is known for their mini kits and this Let's Make Lovely (CA $27.00 / GB £19.00) kit is great as a stocking stuffer. It contains minis 4 of their star products from the regular line:
Hoola is said to be "the perfect color for contouring" by so many of my friends, and they're not wrong. It's such a nice shade that is not too orange or brown for contouring. But make sure to use a light hand and build it up as you go. As for It's Potent Eye Cream, it is a potent eye cream (haha). It is quite thick and moisturizing so a little goes a long way. I like to use it in the morning because it helps to hydrate your undereye and prep it for makeup.
If you would like to see these kits in action, check out the look I did yesterday using products mentioned in this post. If you (or your loved one) are just starting with Benefit, I recommend any of the mini kits including the Let's Make Lovely for them to try. And if your girl is always on the go and love a good sets for everyday makeup, definitely go for Groovy Kind-A Love. There are many more holiday kits out there by Benefit this year that you'll for sure be able to find one for your girl friends, mom, sisters, or any of your loved ones.
Until next time,
x Rica
