The World MasterCard Fashion Week SS14 has just wrapped up, and it would still be a little while before we start embracing the 2014 Spring and Summer trends. However, there was one special show on day 4 of WMCFW that we can all dive right into—Target Holiday 2013. Let's back up a little and talk about the preparation right before the show.

I had the opportunity to go backstage and check out makeup and hair look for the Target show. Grace Lee, Maybelline Canada Lead Makeup Artist, explained the inspiration behind the look for the show, she said the look was inspired by one of the best known faces of Maybelline—Erin Wasson.
“Erin’s day-to-day look has a girl-next-door meets rock-n-roll vibe, and her signature makeup involves a smoky eye and nude lip. I wanted the Target girls to be holiday ready, but not over the top. Erin nails this makeup and makes it look effortless, and I made sure the rest of the models followed suit in warm metallics and clean, beautiful skin.”

Grace used Color Tattoo Cream Shadow in Bad to the Bronze all over the model's eyelid and then lined her eyes with the Color Show Eyeliner, brown shade (new for 2014) She also pressed Master Smoky in Scorching Brown along the lashline to slightly intensify the look. To finish up the eyes, Grace used Colossal Smoky Eyes Mascara on the model's eyelashes.
For complexion, Grace started the face with Fit Me Foundation and then contour with the darkest shade in Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick. This create super natural enhancement for the cheekbones, it's quite genius. For a bit more coverage and highlight, she used the Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer under the eyes, around the nose and the high points of the face. For even more pronounced cheekbones, Grace mixed Baby Lips in Quench with Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Barely Brazen to create a natural cream highlighter. To set everything, Grace lightly dusted the new for 2014 Dream Wonder powder. On the model's lips, it was the newest lip products Color Elixir in Nude Illusion. To finish up, Grace lightly shaped the model's brows with Master Shape Brow Pencil.
On to hair, Jorge Joao can created this natural waves that is achievable even at home. He started with a simple center part. By using a curling iron (you can also use a wand), he wrapped small sections of the hair around the tong. After the curl heat up, he would drop the curl and let it cool down a bit before spraying some Redken Fashion Waves. He then shake the hair out with his fingers from under the hair to create those natural waves.
Jorge gave some great tips for the curl to hold. He said if you use prong clips to keep the curls on while it's hot and let cool down like that, it'll have a better curl shape. Again, to achieve the natural waves, just shake it out before you head out.
Onto the actual fashion show, the entire show features the upcoming fashion items for the Holiday season. Everything can be found at Target very soon and at a reasonable price too. The show started with familiar Christmas tunes and then Erin Wasson opened the show. As the show progress, you can feel the warmth and uplifting mood from the big smiles on the models' faces. Everyone looks like they were having fun, and everyone watching the show seems to be really into it too. I, for one, am a big fan of the show, maybe because the Holiday season is my favourite time of the year :).

Before and after the show, I got to hang out with Tiffany from TC and the City, Katelyn from The Skinny Blonde Girl, Anum from Summer x Skin, and Nagmeh from The Fashionista Bubble. We took a picture at the Sony booth, it turned out quite well and I'm loving it :).
