Maybelline Color Whispers
"I love tinted lip colour. I love moisturizing lip product", I screamed and shouted and let it all out...

Sorry for the bad pun, but if you know me, you know I love a good tinted lip balm or any easy-to-apply lip colour with moisturizing properties.  So Maybelline Color Whisper seems right up my alley.  The Color Whisper range has 20 different colours.  Here are the 5 colours that I have...

From L to R: #15 Some Like It Taupe, #25 Lust For Blush
#55 One Size Fits Pearl, #60 #Petal Rebel, #85 Berry Ready

Maybelline describes the Color Whisper range as "Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel. No heavy waxes or oils. Soft, sexy gel-color."  I have to agree with how light it feels.  While it doesn't really feel like weightless, it definitely does not have a masking feeling or a vaseline feeling on your lips.  It's easy to apply because I can just apply right from the tube without worrying about it looking weird, well, except the bolder shades.

However, to me, the colours are a bit of a hit and miss.  While I do like the easy-to-apply feature of the more nude/neutral shades, I feel like they lack pigmentation.  So if you're looking for something more pigmented, I would not recommend shades like #15 Some Like It Taupe (sheer peachy golden nude sheen) or #55 One Size Fits Pearl (very sheer pink sheen).  These two colours still offer a nice shine and glossy finish for those lazy days.

My personal favourite shades are #25 Lust For Blush (sheer blush nude) and #60 Petal Pearl (sheer bubblegum pink tint) because it has the right balance of pigmentation and ease of application.  While I don't think #85 Berry Ready (full coverage red tone berry) fits my skin tone, it is a very pigmented shade and I can see how some people really like it.

See below the swatches of the colours and I think you will see what I meant...

Overall, Maybelline Color Whisper is a good moisturizing lip colour range.  Shades vary in pigmentation, so make sure to test it out at your drugstore before buying, or you might not get what you expect.

Have you tried the Color Whisper line?  What colours are on your list?  I am interested in trying other colours with more of a medium pigmentation, particularly Coral Ambition, Cherry On Top, Who Wore It Red-er, and Pin Up Peach.  Let me know which shade I should look into.

Until next time,

x Rica
