Ok... maybe it's not grammatically correct in old English, but I think you get my point from the title.
Ever since Jill from jillojello and Joyce from Sparkly Playground reviewed the George's Cream, I have been wanting to try out this local brand. I went to the Shoppers Drug Marts near my place and my office to find them, but no luck (or maybe I've been looking at the wrong section!?). So when the lovely people from George's Cream asked me if I would like to try out their products, I know I have to say yes.
First of all, let's talk about my skin. I have pretty dry skin on my body (ironically, I have very oily skin on my face = =). So I need complete moisture in order to feel comfortable throughout the day. My boyfriend has really dry skin too, and he needs even more moisture than I do. Both of us tried out the George's Special Dry Skin Cream and the George's Light Special Moisturizing Lotion. We tested them out throughout the month of April and the first half of May, so I think I have a pretty good idea on how well they work.
Ingredients: Deionised Water, White Petrolatum, Cetyl Alcohol, Polysorbate-20, Polysorbate-80, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Phenoxy Ethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid.
This intense moisturizer is meant for combatting severe dry skin. It looks like a white paste when you first squeeze it out. It actually put me off a little bit when I saw the paste because it's not really how I pictured it to be. It seems like it's more whipped than other body creams that I have tried.
I made a mistake on using too much of it the first time, so my hands ended up feeling slippery. I believe a little should go a long way in non-winter weather. Or else, it might be too greasy. It would have been perfect if I was testing it out during Winter. I mainly use it on my hands and my feet because those are the areas that are most dry. My boyfriend, however, use it on his legs and hands too because he thinks he needs the extra moisture. One great thing about this cream is that it's unscented, which is perfect for those who are sensitive to fragrance in personal care products.
The only thing that I am a slightly weary about is the ingredient Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). I usually tried to avoid SLS in my skincare products because it actually dries out your skin. It's commonly found in shampoos, shower gels, and other foaming products. So the fact that it contains SLS concerns me a bit. But since it is not listed in the top few ingredients, and I mostly just use it on my feet, I am not very fuss about it.
Ingredients: Deionised Water, White Petrolatum, Glyceryl Stearate & PEG-100 Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol & Caprylyl Glycol & Sorbic Acid, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Tocopherol (Vitamin E).
This is a much lighter version of the George's Cream. In fact, the ingredients are much different, so let's consider it as a different product =). Its texture is like a lot of other lotion. Like the Special Dry Skin Cream, it's also unscented. Again, it's great for sensitive skin.
Like its name suggests, it's a light moisturizer. It's light enough to not make your skin greasy, but moisturizing enough for everyday use. I apply it every night after shower. I find that it provides complete moisture until I pop into shower again. So I'd say it's very moisturizing. My boyfriend also used this every day in conjunction with the Special Dry Skin Cream. We both really enjoy using the Light Special Moisturizing Lotion, so it's safe to say this is our favourite product among the two that I received.
After using both products for a month or two now, we still have over half left. Keep in mind there are two of us using the products, so if you're getting it for your own use, it should last you for no less than half a year.
All-in-all, I do enjoy using the George's Cream products. But to be honest, I think I'll only be getting the George's Light Special Moisturizing Lotion because it's enough for me. It's even enough for my feet but I will definitely need other more moisturizing hand cream for my dry hands.
The George's Cream products are available at most drugstores across Canada (for a location near you, click here). I highly recommend the George's Light Special Moisturizing Lotion, and if you have severe dry skin, make sure to check out George's Special Dry Skin Cream too :).
Now onto the giveaway! George's Cream is kind enough to giveaway another set of the George's Special Dry Skin Cream and the George's Light Special Moisturizing Lotion! It's quite simple, just be a public follower of my blog, follow both @eeenricaaa and @georges_cream on twitter, and leave a comment below! That's it =). Good luck to all of you who enter!
Next post will be about another Travel Chic post about my trip to Taipei! Until then, stay moisturized! (ok, I know that's bad lol)
P.S. Special thanks to my boyfriend for taking pictures for me while I'm thousands miles away =). Please excuse the background as we're still unpacking =).
